Netflix has an ample amount of excellent docuseries covering some truly intriguing stories of crime, and subscribers absolutely can’t seem to get enough of this compelling content. So it’s not surprising to learn that many are most assuredly wondering if Captive Audience: A Real American Horror Story is an option to stream now.
The miniseries is about the seven-year-old boy named Steven Stayner, who vanished in 1972 and then returned to his family, which sparked the “stranger danger” movement in the ’80s. Many may also remember the legal reforms that took place in order to prevent this from happening again, and there was even a made-for-television movie transformed into a primetime series that was released that was watched by 70 million people.
What will set this apart from the competition is the way the show takes a look at the evolution of true crime storytelling as a result of the family’s 50-year journey with two brothers at the center of it, one being deemed a monster and the other a hero. The way things play out in these tragic events is never what one expects and getting some well-crafted perspective on this matter makes Captive Audience a worthwhile affair from start to finish.
